Imagine learning carpentry, framing, welding, electrical work, insulation, and so much moreβ€” all while getting paid. That's the model our Construction Pre-Apprenticeship program offers. Graduates spent 3 months honing these valuable skills, turning raw materials into structures, and creating spaces that will serve communities for years to come.

From framing precision to electrical work, our trainees have embraced each aspect of construction with enthusiasm and dedication. Their passion for the craft shines through every nail hammered and wire connected.

As they prepare to step into the world of construction work or pursue a construction apprenticeship, they carry with them not just technical skills but also a sense of pride and accomplishment. They're leaving behind a legacy of hard work and resilienceβ€”a testament to what can be achieved when given the opportunity to learn and grow.

POIC CHEF Program graduates have embarked on an exciting culinary journey that goes beyond the kitchen. From mastering the precision of knife work to exploring the art of baking and butchering, they were immersed in a rich and diverse learning experience.

What's even better? Like in the POIC Construction Pre-Apprenticeship program they were paid to learn! While honing their culinary skills, they earned as they grew β€” a true win-win situation for each participant that builds the foundation of their culinary career.

But the learning didn't stop at the POIC Kitchen door. Graduates had the opportunity to broaden their horizons with unique experiences like visiting a dairy farm and a butcher shop. These hands-on excursions allowed them to gain a deeper appreciation for where ingredients come from and the importance of sustainable farming practices.

In addition to these enriching experiences, graduates were treated to insightful sessions with renowned guest speakers in Portland. These industry experts shared their wisdom, insights, and invaluable tips, inspiring our budding chefs to dream big and aim high.
