Safe from Hate Jobsite Culture Pledge
In May 2020, amidst the call for justice after the George Floyd murder, a noose was found hanging at the 4th and Montgomery project in downtown Portland. After the incident, a push to change worksite culture arose. The βSafe from Hateβ Pledge, a contractor-led initiative, was born.
The POIC + RAHS Construction Pre-Apprenticeship program serves Black and Brown trainees, primarily, so committing to the pledge solidified our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion - tenets that already guide our organization. We are proud to be part of an industry's positive transformation and appreciate our fellow leaders committed to the Safe from Hate Jobsite Culture Pledge.
