Healing Hurt People Program Launches at OHSU

The Healing Hurt People program has provided services to victims of community violence for the past couple of years at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center. Starting this week, Oregon Health & Science University will be partnering with POIC + RAHS to expand their services to their hospital as well. With current high levels of community violence, this expansion of violence intervention and prevention work to a second hospital means that this critical work will reach more individuals in need and further break the cycle of violence. Healing Hurt people leader Roy Moore is ready to help more people through the program, recognizing the urgent public safety emergency.
“Violence begets violence, and now it’s a public safety issue,” Roy Moore, Co-Director of Community Care Team / Healing Hurt People.
By giving direct access to both of the state’s Level 1 trauma centers to credible messengers, HHP can better combat the violence Portland is facing and give more people the chance to turn their lives around.
