Highlighting our perseverance through Portland’s gun violence crisis and the pandemic, Multnomah County showcased the Community Healing Initiative program. Their great work focuses on relationships, health, hope, and healing to serve our community. Read the full article.

CHI Participants are also inspiring the community. Machelle, a single mother of five, juggles overnight shifts and Distance Learning for her kids. View the story from KGW.

LeeAnn is a participant in our NextGen program at POIC, and she lost her job during the pandemic. Through Worksystems, we were able to offer her COVID-19 emergency aid for rent assistance. Hear her story. She has recently gotten her DHS-approved child care certifications, and our Career Coaches are working with her to find secure employment.

A CHI team Lead spoke to the need for an increased safety response to address the staggering amount of gun violence in Portland. See the KATU interview.

Finally, Rosemary Anderson students from the Natural Resource Pathway program were featured in the Friends of Trees “Treemail”. Our student interns earn an hourly stipend while building valuable job skills. Read more.
